There's no doubt that passion for the craft of creating and self publishing comics is of paramount importance. Love has to be what sustains us because if anyone's in this for money, they're going to be disappointed. The top selling comic book in this country, a #1 with an "X" in the title didn't even sell 100K copies. Perhaps you could attribute in part these incredibly low numbers to a bad economy but in a nation with a population in the hundreds of millions the best selling comic couldn't even crack 100K while other media does good numbers? Despite this, my passion for creating/publishing burns brightly and I still love doing it. Love sure as hell isn't rational is it?

Well said Tony! It isn't rational, for sure! It's true selling comics bring in low numbers, but with the net, comes another audience they didn't have back in the day. the whole landscape for selling merc has changed drastically and now more than ever before there are LOTS of choices where to spend money for entertainment. Dvds, movies tv, video games, Pro Wrestling music sports...
You're right though, we do comics because we have a passion for it, and that's got rewards all it's own regardless of money. Thanks for your comments Man!
